Trinidad & Tobago U-20 Women end Concacaf U-20 Women’s championship preparation on a high.
Trinidad and Tobago’s Under 20 Women defeated Dominican Republic women’s club team Abril LDF on Wednesday at the San Cristobal Training Centre with a 3-1 victory.
The Trinidad & Tobago women got goals from Cayla McFarlane of Polytechnic 37th minute, however with the score tied Maria Frances Serrant scored for T&T in the 53rd minute. Afiyah Cornwall of Waterloo Institute who has been in fine form got the third goal in the 69th minute. She came off the bench to net in the 69th minute. Afiyah Cornwall has scored 5 goals in three matches.

Heach coach Richard Hood then made the follow statement to the TTFA Media.
“This was another good performance by us. The opposition provide a different type of challenge and the exercise served our purpose. It’s good to have another win under our belts heading into the competition but we will ensure that there is no complacency as the major assignments are still ahead of us. The focus now is on our next opponent which is St Kitts/Nevis on Sunday,”
The three warm up matches results were as follows:
- Trinidad & Tobago 3 Abril LDF 1
- Trinidad and Tobago 3 Puerto Rico 0
- Dominican Rep 4 – Trinidad & Tobago 1
Considering the rocky start the Trinidad & Tobago team bounced back admirably with Hood favouring a 4-2-3-1 formation. With the CONCACAF U-20 Women’s championship coming up it remains to be seen if this preparation will be sufficient.
